Funkasaurus is a funky dinosaur that has been rumored to wander the woods of the south coast of Mendocino. Its roar is said by locals to elicit an irresistible urge to dance one’s socks off. The creature is believed to consist of Paul Mueller on tenor sax, keys and vocals; Katrina Coffman on bari and tenor saxes, flute, and vocals; Sean Case on bari sax; AJ Purcell on fender rhodes; Brant O’Dell on guitar, Chris McGreal on bass; and Jesse Hanna on drums.
Although sightings of the mysterious beast are rare, some folks report that they have seen it at the Point Arena Fireworks Festival for several years. There have even been reports of sightings as far as the Anderson Valley Brewing Company. The sound the Funkasaurus makes has driving grooves, tasty bass licks, crunchy guitar riffs, and horn lines that you can feel in your bones. If you get the chance to catch a glimpse of the mighty Funkasaurus, don’t miss it!
